Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant

Holo  untitledSeñoras y Señores,

Ok so if you haven’t herd of this amazing little Mexican restaurant then I’m about to change your life.  If you a fan of nachos and want to taste the most ridiculously delicious margaritas you have ever tasted then you have to give this place a try. Located in the vibey area of Observatory this funky restaurant is one of my favourites and popular choice amongst Cape Town locals.

Their food is very affordable and the vibe is always festive. I highly recommend having there large portion of nachos  as the portions are so big that you could definitely share between two people or if you have super natural eating powers then maybe ,maybbee you could finish it. Their chilli poppers are also delicious and I of course recommend trying out all there frozen margarita flavours in lemon, strawberry or mixed flavours ,and of course no Mexican meal could go without a few shots of tequila so definitely check out there impressive selection.

Sorbetiere ~

184468_446891282076033_1388178979_nSo if you like sorbet or ice cream then I have a real treat for you, this charming little sorbet parlour is new on the scene and is run by a friendly French lady who you will find serving you up your sorbet or whipping up some fresh coffee if that’s more your thing .Located in Woodstock in a funky artsy looking building on Albert street, I was lucky enough to be invited to try all the interesting flavours she has to offer and I must say as a sorbet lover I have definitely found a few new favourites in this lovely place. With a welcoming, homey vibe it’s the perfect spot to grab some sorbet or ice cream with friends or even to just pop by and take some home for a sneaky delicious treat for later. I absolutely loved the user friendly décor, warm service and of course the addictively yummy frozen delights! A few of the flavours on offer are lemon ,vanilla sorbet, frozen yoghurt and caramel, peanut butter and nut, Choco , passion fruit and my absolute favourite Banana and cookies!

la la “La Vie”

La vieSo for me La Vie is the first place I think of when I’m in the mood for some cheeky cocktails on a summers evening, to watch the sunset after a day on the beach.

This popular local hangout is a favourite for me due to its laid back, summer loving kinda vibe and its deeelicious cocktails. It has an epic 80 degree view of the Atlantic Ocean and beach and every Sunday they host live music by a two man ‘band’ that remarkably sit there and just make up songs as they go along , its a real treat!

Now down to the good stuff, every Monday they have a two-for -one pizza special going on and let me just tell you they are amaze-ing!! There cocktails are pretty famous too ,defiantly need to try the Mojito!! ❤

This is something a friend of mine told me about and yes its true , Iv gone and done it all! Buitenverwachting, Uitsig and Steenberg all offer free wine tastings , these beautiful estates are also very close to the city bowl so you don’t have to venture too far which is somewhat too convenient for a die hard wine lover as myself 😉 And for those of you who are not keen on wine (?) , SA breweries also offers free tours of the malt house and the brewery itself. So definitely go make a day of it with friends ,its really good fun!

Pollmoor Pison Dining

pols

Ok so have you ever wondered what it would be like to have lunch in prison?

This may not be for everyone but I certainly enjoyed it and found it very interesting and different. Pollsmoor Prison has a little restaurant called ‘Idlanathi’ which means ‘eat with us’ that is actually created for the prison staff and where the prisoners actually make and serve the food as part of a skills program.  The food is actually very good and ridiculously cheap and don’t worry all the prisoners serving you are all low security inmates .Its quit a thrilling experience and gives you a closer look at what it’s like in a prison atmosphere, it made me really appreciate my life and freedom that’s forsure. So I highly recommend this amazing, different experience for the more adventurous type.

FOOD PRICES:

Breakfast options include a farm-style breakfast, a budget breakfast and a healthy breakfast (R16 – R27). Sandwiches range from cheese and tomato to egg and bacon, as well as beef, chicken and steak (R6 – R19). Mains are surprisingly affordable from a cheese burger and chips/tossed salad for R20, a rib burger and chips/tossed salad for R24 to a steak burger and chips/tossed salad for R26. Find daily specials such as curries, stews, lasagne and more on the blackboard. Other lunch options are seafood and salads. I opted for the yummy deep-fried calamari (R32 for 200g) with chips. My mates had the hake (R33) and the ladies T-bone with chips (R42). The most expensive option on the menu: large pork spareribs with chips for R60.

The legend Dj Crunchy

OK ! So if you’re a fan of music; and watching musicians and djs is your kind of thing then you will truly love Assembly.

Assembly is one of MY absolute favorite places to go to check out talent (musical talent I mean obviously 😉 ) and listen to some epic music .
There is always some funky event or special going on and they host all types of genres of music so there’s a vibe for everyone.
The cool thing about his place is that they also have their own radio that you can stream from the website, so you can listen to all the weird and wonderful types of music on there too, nothing too mainstream which is also nice for a change!
So Assembly is always hosting some sort of event but defiantly a favorite to do is the “SEE YOU NEXT WEDNESDAY” Student nights!
